What a wonderful summer for outdoor events we have had this year. So many memorable moments including The Usk Jazz in the Castle at Usk Open Gardens Weekend back in June.
As we come to press, Black Mountain Jazz Club is busy organising and promoting the Abergavenny wall2wall Jazz Festival. Now in its 11th year at various venues in Abergavenny, the Black Mountain Jazz Club annual wall2wall jazz festival goes from strength to strength keeping quality jazz live in Monmouthshire.

Wall2Wall Plus/ Fringe events
- Sunday 5th August “Tea for Two, Jazz in the Afternoon” @ the Abergavenny Community Hall 3.00pm -6.30pm music starts at 4pm.
With a welcoming glass of prosecco and a cream tea of homemade scones, jam and cream, put on your tea dress and enjoy an afternoon of jazz standards with The Debs Hancock Trio in The Abergavenny Community Centre Tickets £12.50 pp
- Sunday 12th August: Jazz for Littleuns@ The Trading Post 4pm to 5.30pm
Aimed at 2-4 year old children (and a parent), this session introduces the fun of jazz for youngsters to enjoy. As well as listening, there will be plenty of joining in and the session will last just over an hour with a break. The Trading Post, Abergavenny
- Saturday 18th August: Jazz Meets Fashion with Baroque Boutique@ The Abergavenny Community Centre 3.00pm to 10.30pm
In partnership with Abergavenny’s fashionable Baroque Boutique, this fashion show will reflect the influences of Jazz and swing on women’s fashion today.
- Wednesday 22 August: Beatnik Jazz Night@ The Trading Post, Abergavenny 7.30pm to 10.30pm
Black Mountain Jazz presents an evening of Beatnik poetry and Jazz in the intimate setting of the Trading Post, where you may also purchase food and enjoy a drink to enhance the evening’s entertainment.
Wall2Wall Jazz Festival weekend events
- Thursday 30th August The Festival Supper @The Angel Hotel
We start and finish on a high with a popular jazz supper @The Angel Hotel. Performed over a delicious 2 course supper, this year music is provided by with Grammy nominated jazz vocalist Becki Biggins and The Guy Shotton Trio. www.beckibiggins.com

- Friday 31st August and Saturday 1st September @The Melville Theatre
Friday Evening and Saturday afternoon and evening, are a must for any jazz lover. The wall2wall festival brings world class jazz performers from near and far to play in the intimate surroundings of The Melville Theatre. Sit back in the raised seating of the auditorium and listen to world class musicianship as they perform at close hand. Only 80 seats are available for every gig making this a truly exclusive musical experience.
- Sunday 2nd September Jazz Alley @ Abergavenny Market Hall, 12pm-5pm
Jazz Ally is a free community event hosted in the gorgeous space of the Abergavenny Market Hall. This event has a bar, street food, stalls and family friendly toe tapping, infectious dance jazz for all to enjoy. Bring the children, bring your parents, this truly is an afternoon for the whole family. There will in addition, be a Ty Hafan” crafternoon” table providing some art and craft activities supporting and promoting the provision of music therapy to any sick children at Ty Hafan.
- Sunday 2nd September The wall2wall Ty Hafan Charity Swing Party@ Abergavenny Market Hall
The wall2wall Ty Hafan Charity Swing Party in the Abergavenny Market Hall, ends the whole festival weekend in pure jazz style with the amazing, high energy band The Electric Swing Circus. www.electricswingcircus.com
Book a table for you and your friends and end the weekend as it began, with world class entertainment, a festival bar, with fabulous sharing Tapas platters available to purchase from Sugarloaf Catering.
World class music right here in Abergavenny. In addition, a donation from both your entrance ticket, the bar and Sugarloaf Catering will support the wonderful work of the music therapy department at Ty Hafan in supporting sick children and their families at a difficult time.
