Hellens Manor House

Hellens Manor House Much Marcle opens again at EasterHellens welcomes you early this year as Easter falls in March so be prepared for a special Easter Sunday as the house and gardens open for 2016.  Note our new tour times for your diaries and we look forward to seeing you, your friends and family this forthcoming season…

In the heart of Much Marcle Hellens is one of England’s oldest historic houses and well worth a visit. A Jacobean manor house with earlier origins it has a fascinating history. The 14th century Stone Hall with its great fireplace bearing the Black Prince’s plumed crest reminds us of the mayhem of mediaeval England whilst the bedchambers prepared for Queen Mary echo tumultuous Tudor times and tell tales of the English Civil War.

With a wealth of historical paintings, fabrics and furniture Hellens has something for everyone. In the grounds there are tranquil gardens with a labyrinth, knot garden and dovecote all within easy reach of the Hellens’ tea room!

Hellens opens for guided tours on Sunday 27th March 2016. Thereafter the house is open to the public on Wednesdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays until the first weekend of October. Tours last for an hour and start at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. No booking necessary. Other times, such as group/private tours by appointment: 01531 660504  www.hellensmanor.com for further info.
