Theatre created for young children by The Sherman Theatre comes to Chepstow in November
with an adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood.
The Sherman Theatre are bringing their winter show specially written and designed for young children aged 3-7 years to Chepstow, with an adaptation of the classic fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood. Their beautiful productions which are full of music and song are usually only available in Chepstow on a few weekdays, for schools, nurseries and playgroups.
But this year, Chepstow Museum, which hosts their visits, has organised a special performance, a matinee on Saturday November 17th at 3pm, so that more parents, grandparents and families and friends have the opportunity to come and experience some of the magic of the Sherman’s delightful shows with their young children.
From the original story by the Brothers Grimm, the Sherman team has created a new version full of charm, songs and fun, the perfect treat for children aged 3 – 7 and their families. Visiting her beloved Granny on her own for the first time, Little Red Riding Hood rushes through the woods. A chance meeting with the hungry Wolf makes her realise she’s missing all the beauty in her surroundings. She slows down and weaves her way to Granny’s picking flowers as she goes. But with the Wolf on his way to Granny’s house too, she mustn’t take too long.
The Sherman’s productions for the very young are also ideal introductions to theatre. They are intimate and interactive, performed in the round with children close to the action, and are written for their audience age group, in a style and at a length that’s really appropriate. In the relaxed and informal setting of the Drill Hall, Chepstow it’s also great to bring this professional production to the locality so that it’s easy to access.
The Sherman Theatre will also be performing Little Red Riding Hood in Welsh on Thursday 29th November at 1.30pm.
Nurseries, pre-schools, school reception classes, playgroups and mothers and toddlers groups are welcome to book places on the weekday performances on Friday 16th November at 1.30pm, and Thursday 29th November at 11am.
