Bolshoi Ballet captured live in Moscow screening.
Tickets £12 full / £10 concession – in advance from Chepstow Museum – tel 01291 625981
A delightful, playful ballet which the Bolshoi bring to life with humour, energy and of course great dancing. This is ideal for young ballet fans too, starting at 4pm on Sunday afternoon 17 June (and finished by 6.30), and the view on the big screen at the Drill Hall, Chepstow is better than the best seat in the house!
The story revolves around a beautiful girl called Coppélia who can be seen sat reading on her balcony each day, attracting the admiration of young men. Swanhilda notices that her fiancé Franz has become infatuated with Coppélia. Although she nearly breaks up the two sweethearts, Coppélia is not what she seems. Swanhilda discovers the truth, but decides to teach the wayward Franz a lesson…
The Bolshoi’s stunning corps de ballet shines especially in the famous “dance of the hours,” and its principals abound in youthful energy and irresistible humour in this effervescent production. The memorable music is by Delibes.
This is the last Bolshoi Ballet broadcast screening of the season, so don’t miss this treat of a ballet – the next one will be in the autumn!
Tickets £12 full, £10 concessions in advance from Chepstow Museum 01291 625981 or at the door on the day from 3.15pm.
