WYE VALLEY ART SOCIETY SPRING EXHIBITION
It’s that time of year again, when The Shire Hall in Monmouth will be hosting an exciting display of paintings, ceramics, prints and arty cards, most of which will be for sale. The dates for your diary are April 16th, 17th, 18th and 20th, when the exhibition will be open from 10am-4pm daily, with free entry. There will also be the opportunity to vote for your favourite art work(s) in the exhibition; the exhibitors await the result with baited breath!
The Society has been in existence for more than 100 years and has long been a magnet for art lovers in the Monmouth area and further afield. We have run a huge variety of demonstrations, art based talks and workshops, plus occasional social events. Currently, we organise two exhibitions a year here, in Monmouth, and also have untutored workshops in Mitchell Troy and in Whitchurch Village Halls. These run at different times of the year for portrait painting, still life and life drawing/painting from a live model. In the warmer months of the year, there are also plein air painting days in the lovely countryside surrounding Monmouth.
Membership has often stood at over 100, although the Society is currently somewhat smaller and would welcome new members, whether you are an artist or just an interested art lover. Come and join the Society for a very modest fee of £5 per year; see the website www.wyevalleyartsociety.co.uk for details or ask at the exhibition.
