Local amateur dramatic group Cast Adrift has been entertaining audiences since 2013 with a mix of murder mysteries and one-act comedies. This year the group is taking a step up, with a production of a full-length comedy, “A Bunch of Amateurs”, written by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman.

This is an hilarious play about a fading Hollywood star who accepts an invitation to perform King Lear at Stratford – just not that Stratford! As you might expect from a writing team with credits ranging from Punch and Private Eye to Spitting Image and Have I Got News for You, the dialogue is packed with humour and wry observation of human nature.

Rehearsals are well under way, with the cast determined to prove that a real bunch of amateurs can mix it with the professionals. Tickets are now on sale for performances at St. Arvans Memorial Hall on Friday 12thOctober and at Portskewett Church Hall on Saturday 13thOctober. Please call Carole Jethwa on 01291 431929 for further details or to reserve tickets.
