The Wye Valley River Festival, 5th – 20th May, is a wonderful series of magical family events, embracing innovative artistic work that inspires and challenges.

Follow the Festival through the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as it creates captivating spaces for wonder and entertainment.

Highlights include: The Museum of the Moon at Tintern Abbey 14th – 20th May (in collaboration with Cadw). Luke Jerrams’s lunar spectacle is best viewed as the evening light fades and it glows in the dramatic ruins of the Abbey.

Fringe events in Tintern include moon bathing, moon pilgrimages and a moon picnic! (Ticketed events) Jony Easterby’s magical woodland light and sound show at Symonds Yat Rock 5th – 6th May. Picnic amongst the trees and be entertained with music and song before immersing yourself in the trees at night.

Monmouth’s Shire Hall will be home to the ‘shadow forest’ and woodland festival show on 12th May, with a day of tree-ific talks and Woodland Assembly debates, Art by the Aborealists at Monmouth Museum and an evening lantern parade.

The Festival Finale in Llandogo 19th May includes an afternoon and evening of music, song, dance and spectacle with the Festival Show & Band, Folkdance Remix, George Choir, Singing Club, Paris Jazz Café, Water Girls, Lydbrook Band, High Trapeze. Dusk torchlight parade and fire sculpture.

Most events are free. You will need to buy tickets for the Museum of the Moon and fringe events in Tintern and Hoarwithy.
