April at Monmouth Savoy

EAster Bunny film posterEvery Easter needs a Bunny and an egg hunt and we have both at the Savoy this month. On Saturday 8th, the first day of the holidays, we have EASTER BUNNY’S EGG-SELLENT ADVENTURE which is an ideal entertainment for the younger kids up to age 8. Not only will the be an egg hunt, but all the kids can meet the Easter Bunny after the show. 12noon start.

We have three fabulous films for family entertainment, the centrepiece of which is the sumptuous new version of Disney’s classic BEAUTY AND THE BEAST starring Lily Cole and Dan Stevens. This a live action remake of the animated version but the essential parts of the cartoon version are still in place and a range of famous British actors such as Ian McKellen, Ewan McGregor and Emma Thompson turn up as parts of the furniture. Complete magic and it will be at the Savoy from Friday 7th for two weeks until Thursday 20th. There is at least one showing a day and often two.

peppa pig posterFor the younger children we bring you PEPPA PIG’S FIRST CINEMA EXPERIENCE, four brand new Peppa Pig adventures including her audience with the Queen and a trip to Australia. The film will be shown late morning starting on Good Friday 14th for ten days.

Finally we have THE BOSS BABY. Alec Baldwin stars as the not so cute infant who turns out to be quite a handful to both his parents and his brother. Highly original and very funny. Starts Friday 21st.

For adult audiences we have another month of really top notch cinema fare. The month starts with MANCHESTER BY THE SEA which won Casey Affleck the Oscar for the Best Actor. It’s a masterly told story of a amn who returns home to look after his nephew after his brother dies. We only have it for four days at the satrt of the month.

From Saturday 8th for six days comes the Best Film of the Year: MOONLIGHT. It beat La La Land to the Oscar and brought Oscars for its stars too including Miss Moneypenny herself Naomi Harris who won Best Supporting Actress. This is absolutely not to be missed.

Hidden figures posterEqually compelling is HIDDEN FIGURES, the previously untold story of three black women who proved to be the brains behind the American space programme. This runs for six days from Good Friday, 14th.

From 21st we have VICEROY’S HOUSE which stars Hugh Bonneville and Gillian Anderson as Lord and Lady Montbatten and tells of their relatively short but tempestuous period in India after the war overseeing the transition to Independence and partition. Michael Gambon also has a leading role.

The U3A film of the month on the 12th is ANTHROPOID, the story of a secret WW2 mission. It stars Jamie Dornan.

beauty and the beast posterLIVE ON STAGE we bring you a brilliant comedy from the pen of John Godber – PERFECT PITCH is the hilarious story of two couples on a caravanning holiday. Tony Wright and Nia Trussler Jones head the fully professional cast. There is one performance on Wed 5th.

We have three Grade A comedians but the only one there are still a few tickets for is ANDY PARSONS on Thursday 6th.

Tickets are also at a premium for the Bohemians on Easter Saturday 15th with A NIGHT OF QUEEN. Very few left.

Finally on 27th we are privileged to present the world renowned folk band THE FUREYS. They have played and filled every major concert hall in the world so we are very lucky to be part of their 2017 UK tour. Tickets are £20.
