We at the Wilderness Outdoor Education Centre on Plump Hill, Mitcheldean are pleased to invite you to our Open Day, taking place on Sunday 17th April from 11.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether you are representing a school looking for a residential venue or a member of the public looking for a fun day out! All of our events and activities can be tailored to suit the school curriculum.
This is a free event. No need to book. Activities are on a first come, first served basis.
We will be running Saxon events throughout the day. 45 – 60 minute workshops will be taking place at 12 noon, 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m. covering an introduction to Anglo Saxon weapons, clothes, homes, food, drink and feasting. Have a go at weapons and warfare Anglo Saxon style!
We will also have Twilight Realms with us. They are a Live Action Role Playing Club (LARP); live action fantasy promoting team work, problem solving, social interaction and imagination, all based in a fantasy medieval world. We will be offering taster sessions for two age groups with each adventure specifically age related – under 11’s at 12 noon and 2.00 pm; 11’s and over at 12.00 pm and 2.00 pm. Tabards and equipment will be provided.
Children can also have a go at our tunnels and crate stack. All activities will be supervised.
