Dance Blast is the the community dance organisation for Monmouthshire and delivers inspirational dance activities at its base, The Dance Centre, situated in the heart of Abergavenny, at the Shire Hall in Monmouth and Bulwark Community Centre in Chepstow.
At The Dance Centre there are over 30 classes to choose from for all ages and abilities and a range of styles, there’s something for everyone!
The Dance Centre opened in 2011 and over the past six years the organisation has raised over £60,000 to refurbish the building, which now has two beautiful dance studios, one equipped with full length mirrors. Initially set up in 1998 as a one off project Dance Blast, a registered charity, has grown and developed into a thriving organisation with over 400 people attending activities at the centre every week.
The team at Dance Blast offer a wide range of classes for all ages, abilities and styles, highlights include ‘DiverseAability’ for members of the community with additional needs, adults Tea Dance in partnership with Occupational Health, Zumba, contemporary, Jive, Tap, Yoga, boys only and Monmouthshire Youth Dance Company (MYDC) the organisations youth development programme.
MYDC is all about nurturing young talented dancers and enabling them to excel and shine. Professional tutors and choreographers from across the UK are engaged to work with the group and many go on to study dance at university. We will be holding an audition on Saturday 9th September for new members.
Starting this September we will be running a NEW adults contemporary class at the Dance Centre every Sunday 10.30 am-1pm (starting Sunday 10th September )11am-12.30pm (£6 per session) Adults of all ages and abilities welcome. So if you’ve always wanted to dance, danced years ago, or a currently dancing a different style why not come and give it a go.
Also this September we will be hosting a really exciting event, as part of Abergavenny Fringe Food Festival. A Vintage Tea Dance at The Dane Centre Sunday 17th September 5.00pm 8.00pm (tickets just £6) So dust off your dance cards and don your pearls for this joyous bop down memory lane! Foxtrots, quicksteps, cha chas, waltzes. Whether you’ve got two left feet or you’re an expert at tripping the light fantastic, release those inhibitions and join in the fun. With live music from the extraordinary Jack Calloway Dance Orchestra.
