This month we welcome both Off Centre Theatre and Monmouth Music Theatre. OCT are doing a quartet of DUETS if that isn’t double dutch. Four amusing plays by Peter Quilter on the subject of relationships, the plays run from March 9-11th.
MMT meanwhile are Broadway bound with their rip roaring version of the hit musical HELLO DOLLY. This is the first time that Savoy has hosted MMT’s main Spring show and we are looking forward to its inevitable success.
We have two top line comedy acts to bring some mirth to the longer March days. On Wed 1st the magical creation that is COUNT ARTHUR STRONG with is new show entitled THE SOUND OF MUCUS. Count Arthur has just been appearing at that august emporium the London Palladium so needs no introduction to the number one venues in Britain!
Meanwhile SHAPPI KHORSANDI is celebrating forty years of living in the UK having come here from Iran. So whether its Morris Men or Morrissey she has a slant on life here that is entirely unique and very funny.
We pay live musical tributes to two music makers who have never lost their appeal. TOM JONES is busy attending to the Voice but we have secured an uncanny sound-alike lookalike in Andy Wood. He’ll be here with a full band on March 12th. On 24th we bring you THE BEACH BOYS STORY told 100% live. That cool West Coast of America sound created by Brian Wilson has never gone out of fashion and there are very few tribute bands around who can match the harmonious authenticity of the original. We have one!
Can you talk to animals? Most of us can but not necessarily in a coherent way. SIMON KING on the other hand, the brilliant host of several wildlife programmes on BBC has a different slant on things and will be sharing that in a fascinating talk on March 3rd.
Our films in March include a couple of one offs beginning with DON’T TAKE ME HOME the documentary about Wales heroics in the Euro’s last summer. Made by Jonny Owen it tells not only the team’s story but also the fans. We are showing it twice on 4th. LOVE AND REMEMBRANCE is this month’s U3A choice on March 14th
We have the brand-new film starring Rachael Weisz and Timothy Spall, DENIAL, the story of the court case for libel brought by Holocaust denier David Irving. Immensely watchable as is T2 TRAINSPOTTING, the film that re-unites not just the original cast but also the writer Irving Welsh and director Danny Boyle. See our advert for dates and times.
